The Falls Retreat-Waihi | Auckland Wedding Photographer

Maria and Tony chose the beautiful Falls Retreat in Waihi surrounded by a few family and friends for their romantic winter wedding.

Maria told us that she knew it was love as their first date was at an all-you-can-eat restaurant. The two food enthusiasts have loved all their adventures and tasting delicious cuisine as a couple ever since. We loved hearing the story about Tony's proposal that was so perfectly planned except for one minor detail- in his excitement he thought he had texted his Mum but actually had texted Maria. Never the less Maria was still so surprised and delighted when Tony asked her to be his wife!

Maria and Tony took advantage of the lock-down to prepare for their special day and while it was only a short time it couldn't have been more perfect! Due to Covid-19 and travel restrictions, some family members couldn't attend but were very much part of this intimate wedding. They had thought of every little detail to include their loved ones on their big day and even set up the camera and go pro to record and live stream for those that couldn't be present.

The cute little cottage at the Falls Retreat made an amazing place for Maria to get ready before she made her way down to where Tony was eagerly awaiting his beautiful bride to be for their first look. There were lots of cheers and clapping as some of their guests admired the beautiful couple from the top of the hill. It was like a fairy tale as Maria and Tony said "I do" in the rotunda which was surrounded by luscious greenery and a glimpse and the sound of the majestic waterfall and birds. The Falls Retreat has so many amazing places to take photos on-site and a cozy little fireplace in the reception area perfect for keeping warm in the crisp weather after the ceremony.

We then headed down the road to a hidden gem- where we were in awe of this magical waterfall which provided some epic photos and an opportunity for Maria and Tony to celebrate being newlyweds before returning to have lunch with their family and friends.
